Membership and Eligibility

THEN promotes an inclusive environment. Individual membership is open to interdisciplinary health care professionals and advocacy agencies who provide and support health care services to transgender/gender diverse individuals, partners, and family members.

Eligibility

  • Membership requires upholding the principles of your professional organization’s licensing and codes of ethics in providing affirming care for transgender/gender diverse populations.

  • Membership candidates must complete the membership application form for eligibility. In this application, membership candidates will be able to describe the professional work they do with transgender/gender diverse clients or patients.

  • Candidates become active members upon verification of eligibility and payment of annual dues.

  • Additionally, members must agree to uphold the WPATH standards of care for transgender/gender diverse individuals.

No eligible individual will be denied membership based on religion, age, race or color, marital status, national origin, disability, sexual orientation, or gender identity and expression.  

The executive board reserves the right to terminate membership of anyone found to be in violation of the mission, values, and commitments of the organization.

 

Dues

Paying members are eligible to vote, hold office, and attend meetings (excluding THEN executive meetings, except by invitation) and events organized by THEN.  Membership dues are established by a vote of at least two thirds of the members present at a duly called meeting and are announced during the summer preceding the fiscal year to which the rate applies. Membership is valid for an entire year from payment date.
